Tasmania's Daylight Saving arrangements
General Arrangements
Daylight saving in Tasmania begins at 2.00 am standard time on the first
Sunday in October and ends at 2.00 am standard time on the last Sunday in March.
Daylight Saving Extended in Tasmania for 2006
In 2006, daylight saving will be extended by one week and finish at 2.00
am standard time on Sunday 2 April.
In 2005-2006, daylight saving will commence at 2.00 am standard time on the
first Sunday in October (2 October) 2005 and conclude at 2.00 am on the first
Sunday in April (2 April) 2006.
The change will support the 2006 Commonwealth Games, to be held in
Melbourne from 15-26 March.
Tasmania, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and the Australian
Capital Territory have all given in-principle support to extend daylight saving
by one week in 2006. Tasmania is currently seeking to amend legislation to
support the change in 2006.
