Lord Howe Island is 550 km east of Port Macquarie, and is part of the state of New South Wales (NSW). It is surrounded by Marine Parks.

Born from a volcanic eruption some seven million years ago, it has the southern-most coral reef in the world. Lord Howe Island is 11 km (c.7 miles) long and barely 2 km (1.25 miles) at its widest point.

Standard Time is 10 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+10.30).  

Daylight Saving Time is observed. Time is shifted forward by 30 minutes hour, resulting in 11 hours difference ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

After the summer months clocks are moved back by 30 minutes resulting in the normal Standard Time.
