Ellesmere Port and Neston is in the north west of Cheshire spanning the southern part of the Wirral peninsula, stretching from the River Dee on one side to the Mersey on the other. Ellesmere Port & Neston Borough Council was created in 1974. It is a place of contrasts, with beautiful countryside and parks and top tourist attractions combined with industrial and commercial heritage and fine shopping providing something of interest for everyone. Rapid growth in recent years has seen millions of visitors flock to attractions like:

The borough's biggest town is Ellesmere Port, which is situated off the M53 motorway close to its junction with the M56 motorway. Ellesmere Port developed when commercial trading started along the Shropshire union canal and later the Manchester Ship Canal. Ellesmere Port town centre is now home to a busy shopping centre and market. To the west of the borough lie the rural villages of Willaston, Ness and Burton. While Neston, a bustling market town, and Parkgate, a popular bathing resort in the 18th century, situated on the Dee estuary looking across to the mountains of North Wales.
