The term 'generation', used all over the world, can mean different things. In Western Europe it indicates a demographic cohort, made up of people born between certain years. Cut-off points are not set in stone though and there are certain overlaps.

Understanding differences between generations may help social cohesion by bridging inevitable divergent views among age groups.
